Although a small and cuddly character, Zeus the Lord of Olympus is unforgiving with his ability to burst down any hero, especially if he is given a good start. It is always a nightmare to lane against him because of being constantly struck by lightning.
His first ability Arc Lightning is a single-target skill used to last-hit creeps and harass in the early stages of the game. When selected an enemy target at Level 4, it will deal 145 damage and will bounce up to 15 times, dealing the same amount of damage to each target. Targeting an enemy hero with Linken’s Sphere will block the spell, though if some other unit is target, the hero will take damage from the bounce.
Zeus’ second ability Lightning Bolt is his bread and butter. This is a single-target nuke that will deal 350 damage to enemies. The great thing about this skill is the fact that it will mini-stun on contact, it gives true-sight within a 900 range, reveals a 1000 range for 3 seconds and most importantly, only has a 6.5-second cool-down.
His third skill Static Field is a passive ability that will activate each time Zeus casts a spell. Each time it goes off, enemies within a 1000 Area of Effect (AoE) will be shocked for 11% of their current hit-points (hp), which means spamming all of your abilities within range of the enemy team will deal that much more damage.
Thundergod’s Wrath is one of the very few global ultimates in the game. At its highest level, it will deal 460 damage to every enemy hero on the entire map. Not only does it deal damage, but also works similarly to his Lightning Bolt skill as to the fact that it will give true-sight as well reveal the surrounding for 1000 AoE. If the target is invisible, they will not take damage from the skill, but will be revealed.
Aghanim’s Scepter can be purchased by Zeus, which increases the damage of his ultimate from 460 to 600. This in combination with the Refresher Orb is disgustingly sexy.
It is pretty easy to get the hang of Zeus as his skills work in a pretty simple manner. You see a target, you bombard him with you nukes. The enemy will either retreat because of taking so much burst damage, or come back, giving you the opportunity to repeat the drill. While being extremely effective on its own, Zeus’ second ability Lightning Bolt becomes insanely devastating once his passive Static Field is levelled up. One really important thing to keep in mind while playing Zeus is the timing of his ultimate. Even if you are new to Dota 2, using his ultimate to steal kills will never go down well with your allies.
