Dota 2 Heroes – An Introduction to Rooftrellen the Treant Protector
Rooftrellen the Treant Protector is a melee strength initiation hero. His abilities are very supportive in nature, but do not let that fool you as he can surely hit like a tank.
There is no argument regarding his supporting capabilities. He is able to increase the survivability of his allies through his abilities and manages to strengthen the lane by removing the necessity to visit the base to heal for both himself as well as his ally. Map awareness, timing and the awareness of enemies are the three essentials to success while playing with the Treant Protector. He is extremely tanky, but is strongly recommended for intermediate players instead of beginners.
His first skill is named Nature’s Guise. It is a single-target ability that will allow him to turn himself or an ally invisible for as the unit the effect of the skill is close to a tree. At its highest level and with the fade time of 2 seconds, the unit can stay invisible for over 60 seconds as long as they are within 375 units of a tree. Units affected by this will also gain a 10% movement speed increase, while Treant himself is able to cast spells while maintaining the invisibility.
Rooftrellen’s second skill is called Leech Seed. It is also a single-target ability, but is intended for enemy heroes. A life-sapping debuff will be placed on an enemy that will last 3 seconds. During this 3-second period, the enemy will be slowed by 24% by 75 per 4 pulses that occur. Now the interesting thing about this spell is that the pulses will also heal allies within a 500 Area of Effect (AoE) for the same amount, which means it will heal for a total of 300 health.
Living Armor is Treant Protector’s passive ability that will give allies +4 armor +4 health-points (HP) regeneration. At night, this aura will have a 900 AoE effect, while during the day it will be global. The unique mechanic of this ability is that it will also work on structures, but in turn will always work in a 900 AoE.
Treant Protector’s ultimate is named Overgrowth and it is a big team-fight ability. When cast, you will entangle all enemy units within a 625 AoE of yourself. All units affected by this will be prevented from moving or attacking for 3 seconds. It will also deal 300 damage to the entangled enemies during this time. A quick note about this skill is that it will go through magic immunity, but since you are able to cast while under the spell, if you happen to go magic immune during the duration, you will break free without any issue. Another thing to remember is that Overgrowth does not mini-stun enemies, though it does prevent the use of Blink Dagger.
