Study reveals spell check reliance

Azwraith the Phantom Lancer is a melee agility carry and pusher. He is notorious for being one of the most confusing heroes to play against.

His first skill is named Spirit Lance. This is a single-target ability that will deal 250 damage to an enemy, as well as slow them by 40% for 3 seconds. Using this skill will also create an image of yourself that will whack away the aforementioned target. This illusion will last for 8 seconds and 25% damage while taking 300% damage in turn. The 7-second cool-down of the skill allows it be used for harassment purposes, though a requirement of 140 mana per cast at Level 4 will prevent you from using it too much during the early stages of the game when you are still low on mana.

Doppelwalk is Phantom Lancer’s second ability. It is an active skill that will allow him to become invisible as well as give him a 15% bonus movement speed, with all of this lasting 8 seconds. Also when activated, you will leave an illusion in your stead that will deal and take the same amount of damage as the Spirit Lance illusion, i.e. deal 25% damage and take 300% damage in turn.

Phantom Lancer’s third skill is named Juxtapose. It is a passive ability that will give you a 12% chance to create an illusion of yourself while attacking a target. The illusion will last a handy 20 seconds. At its highest level, you can create up to 8 controllable images that will deal 25% damage while taking an increased 350% damage.

Finally we get to talk about his ultimate Phantom Edge. It is also a passive skill that will give you a number of things. Firstly, it will give you 20% magical resistance, which is actually stackable with other spell resistance items. In addition to this, it will boost your Juxtapose pop chance from 12% to 18%. Lastly and one of the most awesome effect of his ultimate, it will give your illusions a 7% chance to create illusions of their own upon hitting an enemy, making it even more confusing for your enemies to detect you among the massive army of images.

Phantom Lancer’s main strength lays in his ability to confuse heroes and keep them guessing which of the lance-bearing blue-skinned guy on their screen is the real you. Making damage-per-second (DPS) items work great on you as the extra bit of attack speed allows you and your illusions to reproduce faster. Mana can become a bit of a problem. Therefore it is advised to use your Spirit Lance carefully. However, if you can sneak in a mana-boosting item in your inventory, then that problem will easily get resolved. Diffusal Blade is a viable option for this and the orb effect also works great on him.
