Square Enix announces Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box Collection for Japan

If you are a Final Fantasy and just cannot seem to get enough of it, then Square Enix is offering you something that would result in many sleepless nights.

Celebrating the 25^th years of the popular role-playing game franchise in Japan this past weekend, the company announced a Final Fantasy 25^th Anniversary Ultimate Box Collection.

Included in the box is the complete collection of numbered Final Fantasy titles that have been released to date, save for a few that, for some reason, have been excluded.

The box set will feature the original PlayStation versions of Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy Vi, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII and of course, Final Fantasy IX.

If you think that is all you will find in the Final Fantasy 25^th Anniversary Ultimate Box, you are mistaken because we have hardly gone through half the titles that will be included in the package.

The box set will include the Final Fantasy III UMD for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The PlayStation 2 version of Final Fantasy X, XI and XII, along with the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy XIII will complete the list of titles that are waiting for the passionate Final Fantasy fans in the box set.

Also included in the set is a “special anniversary video disc” containing the an anniversary celebrations video montage, as well as a two-disc music CD containing songs from the series, an art book, a Final Fantasy XIV item code that will allow you to get “mogu mogu” earrings, and last but not the least, a mini-replica of the Final Fantasy 25^th Anniversary visual logo drawn by the famous Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano.

It indeed is a “dream come true” for the hardcore fans of the emotionally gripping and visually stunning Japanese RPG.

There are a number of people who waited too long to get their first take of the Final Fantasy experience and therefore ended up missing the first few parts of the series. While the early titles would not stun them as far as the graphics are concerned, the music and story is definitely something that they would not want to miss. The box collection announced by Square Enix will give them a perfect opportunity to better understand why the series is considered among the best in video game history.

There is some criticism regarding the inclusion of the server-based Final Fantasy XI in the box set, while no spin-off of the Final Fantasy XII is included. Square Enix probably has a good reason to do this.

The Final Fantasy 25^th Anniversary Ultimate Box collection is definitely something that the fans will be looking forward to. There is, however, some bad news for the American and European fans of the game as the compilation will only be available in Japan. Do not lose hope just yet as Square Enix may end up releasing the Ultimate Box Collection in other regions somewhere down the road.
