Angry Birds launch UK activity parks

Playing video games is the most attractive form of entertainment for some people as it allows them to actually allows them to experience everything firsthand rather than being a mere spectator.

The gaming industry has been gladly catering to the entertainment needs for many years now and has introduced thousands of games in the market so far. Some of these games were nothing to write home about, while others made a lasting impression, earning both critical as well as commercial acclaim.

I, being a core gamer myself, have played plenty of games in my life and of course came across some pretty amazing franchises and titles, while there were some games that had me feeling drowsy within a few minutes of my gaming session. Interestingly, many of these games are considered to be one of the best to date, though the reason behind this completely eludes me.

I have compiled a list of games that I believe have gotten way more attention than they truly deserve. The list and explanations are based entirely on my own opinion and experience and therefore feel free to disagree.

5. Angry Birds

Despite the game releasing in December 2009, I first heard about it from a group of friends five months later. They were going on and on about how amazingly fun the game was and kept discussing the various kinds of birds that were at a player’s disposal to get rid of the enemy, a plague of green pigs.

After hearing so much about it, I decided to look up the game on Google and came across reviews full of praises about the game. Everyone seemed to be loving the game and just could not seem to get enough of it.

It is for this very reason that the moment I hands on my first-ever smart-phone, a Nokia C-07, the first thing I did was download the game from the internet and see for myself what the hype was all about.

I admit that my first Angry Birds session lasted for 3 hours straight. The gameplay indeed came off as fun and the characters, both the birds as well as the mean egg-stealing pigs, were quite cuddly.

However, after a couple of more sessions, I began to realise that the game kept offering me the same thing over and over again. The gameplay started coming off as extremely monotonous, while the over-all experience got bland. Just how many times can one derive pleasure out of using a feathery creature to knock out pigs?

The levels were more-or-less quite similar, offering very little challenge. I understand that Rovio was particularly targeting the casual gamers with this game and therefore decided to keep the difficulty low, but did they really have to make it so simple that it actually became boring?

Angry Birds is indeed a fun game if you are looking to kill a few minutes, but all the hype that surrounded the game seems rather unjustified. The game is seriously overrated
