Charts: Konami will not be too happy with the sales figures posted by PES 13 in its first week in the charts as it can expect FIFA 13 to outsell it once again.
The United Kingdom’s entertainment software sales charts make for some interesting viewing at times and this time around, a number of new entries have caused quite a stir.
Max Payne 3 manages to dramatically roll into tenth place in slow-motion while sending bullets flying at the games below it as it manages to spend one more week in the top ten, although one gets the sense that unless Max finds any painkillers and restores life in his faltering sales, it won’t be long before he’s gone.
Guild Wars 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 end the week in ninth and eighth place respectively, with the latter having spent the previous week in the top five. It seems that the game’s timing in terms of release could have been better, as they can expect to see sales slip as a number of triple-A titles are set for release between now and Christmas.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 continues to do the business for Nintendo as any sales now are just bonus, with the game passing the two-million units sold mark worldwide and still going strong in Japan.
A PlayStation Vita titles finds itself in the charts as LittleBigPlanet Vita finds itself one spot outside the top five. Many have praised the game for finding its true home on the portable console and the sales figures seem to reflect that as well.
Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes continues to sell in the thousands as the light hearted, quick witted game entertains on a number of levels to find its way into new homes every week.
Sleeping Dogs is no longer in the top three after kung fu-ing the opposition for the past few weeks as it falls in fourth spot, one place behind Konami’s return to form football simulation title, Pro Evolution Soccer 2013.
The game has been lauded as the best PES game this generation but it seems that FIFA’s dominance over the past few years means it will take some extra convincing for some gamers to return to the series.
F1 2012 is getting petrol heads all excited as the game is sure to continue selling in decent numbers throughout the F1 season. Codemasters, the game’s developer, seems to have made a habit of releasing brilliant racing titles and their latest entry in the F1 series is no different.
However, top spot goes to Borderlands 2 as the more expansive sequel to the groundbreaking new game, Borderlands, seems to have hit the sweet spot with gamers but is it a one-week hit or will it dominate the charts for weeks to come? It seems only time will answer that question.
