The Bad

Rovio needs to be given credit for showing boldness and deviating from its previous strategy of keeping the gameplay simple so as to appeal to as many people as possible.

It is no secret that the primary reason for all the success enjoyed by the Angry Birds franchise was due to its simplistic gameplay and the dismal difficulty on offer.

It only took a minute or two for a person to realise that he did not need to be a pro gamer or special to make his way through the numerous levels in Angry Birds. The game leaned in favour of everyone who gave it a shot, be it an 8 year old or a 40 year old.

However, the Bad Piggies is nothing like its parent game when it comes to keeping it simple and casual. The game is designed in such a way that it would put the skills of the player to test, not allowing him to progress unless the player manages to produce what the scenario demands.

Sometimes, a play may find himself stuck in a stage for as long as 30-45 minutes, trying to figure out what parts need to be assorted to create an ideal machine for the stage.

Many players are expected to switch the app off out of sheer frustration after failing to do things right. Some would even go ahead with deleting the game after concluding that the game is extremely tough and not meant for them.

The casual gaming experience comes in real handy while waiting at a doctor’s office or sitting in the subway. However, people would not like to jump into a game that has a huge tendency of frustrating them with its puzzles.

The core gamers may have a great time playing Bad Piggies, but when it comes to casual gamers, it is important to keep things relatively easy, something that Rovio have definitely not given a thought to during the development of the Angry Birds spin-off.

There is one thing, however, that the Finnish company has done to help players when they find themselves stuck in seemingly impossible situations.

The services of a “mechanic” can be taken by the players to create a vehicle that would make it possible to get across the finish line.

Unfortunately, the mechanics do not come with a cost. While Rovio is generous enough to give players three free mechanics upon liking the Bad Piggies Facebook page, Additional mechanics will cost players at least $2.

Of course, there is always an option of cheating available to the players, though that would take a huge toll on the overall game experience.

Bad Piggies is definitely a game that leans more towards a hardcore experience instead of a casual one. While the game has instantly topped the charts upon release, what remains to be seen is whether it manages to maintain its place there.
