Ubisoft’s revival of the Ghost Recon series with Future Soldier is set to get another wave of content with the latest DLC pack that sees it going to the city of Peshawar and the surrounding areas.
Ubisoft has really come on strong in the previous years and has pretty much established itself as a major player in the interactive entertainment industry. The publisher has some of the biggest names in gaming under its belt with the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Driver and Rayman, along with the upcoming ZombiU for the Wii U as well as the entire roster of Tom Clancy games such as Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell and HAWX.
However, one of its biggest surprise packages has been Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. There was a fair bit of hype surrounding the game and following its release gamers really took to the game, which provided something different from what other shooters were offering. The result was that the game sold higher than Ubisoft’s expectations, which made it a great platform to provide DLC for and Ubisoft picked up on that.
Having already release Arctic Strike and Raven Strike since its release, the publisher recently announced the third DLC pack, Khyber Strike. The DLC adds three new multiplayer maps, one new game mode and one new map for Guerrilla Mode as well.
It has already been released on the Microsoft LIVE Marketplace and is set to hit the PlayStation Network today, the 10th of October. The game will cost £7 on Sony’s PlayStation Store and 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360.
The new Guerrilla Mode map is titled ‘Village’ and is described as “A peaceful country village” that has been “transformed into a battleground”. The action will take place around a central bus station and is geared towards snipers as well as allowing players the option to blow up a gas station if the situation calls for it.
The new game mode is known as Takeover and is time based, with the team that has the higher score winning the match. Ubisoft’s description reads:
“Similar to a classic team deathmatch, score points for your team by eliminating enemies. Tip the scales by taking control of the enemy’s objective and earn a score multiplier to your team. Defend your team’s objective to prevent the enemy from gaining the same advantage. Choose to split your team to defend and attack at the same time, or move as a group and overwhelm your enemy.”- Nothing revolutionary there then.
Lastly, the three new maps are Switchback, which takes place in narrow alleys and is based on close-quarters combat, Palace, which sees action focused on a central courtyard and lastly Transit, which has nothing to do with Khyber whatsoever, as it is set in a Russian metro station.
Will you be picking up a copy of the DLC?
