The PlayStation Vita is set to get its first survival-horror puzzle game with an new Silent Hill game and Sony seems pretty excited about it. Also, there are a number of games making their way to the PlayStation Network as well.

Silent Hill may no longer have the same pedigree or wow factor it had when the first few instalments in the series were released, however, the series still manages to turn a considerable number of heads when a new instalment is announced.

The latest iteration of the game is set to be released on Sony’s PlayStation Vita console as the manufacturer is hoping that a taste of survival horror will bring more consumers to the console and will also provide another diverse title to keep existing users satisfied.

Sony is marketing Silent Hill: Book of Memories as “A departure for the series, with a focus on co-operative multiplayer action rather than traditional Psychological Horror.”

The publisher elaborated, “Players can work together as they explore several different Otherworlds, solving puzzles and defeating creatures to advance through the Nightmares and uncover the truth behind the Book of Memories.”

Sony also highlighted how the game will be making full use of the handheld console’s extra features with “Scare rooms, limited resources, and dark atmosphere all return – but in a gameplay package specifically designed to take advantage of the PlayStation Vita.”

At the same time, Dokuro, is also set to release on the PlayStation Vita this week. The game features a chalk-drawn setting and is based on various fairytale elements and themes. To cut the chase and come to the point would mean describing the game as a puzzle-platform title.

The game is based on three characters, out of which players will take on the role of Dokuro, the skeletal hero, and how he tries to save the damsel in distress which his boss brought into the castle with him one day.

It’s almost like Mario except he has to break out of the castle with her instead of going into a million castles in order to find her.

At the same time Arkedo Series 03 Pixel is set to release on the PlayStation Network as well, with the game bringing a 2D platforming experience to the PlayStation 3 console. Also set for release this week is Of Orcs and Men, which sees players take on the role of a veteran orc soldier sent on a mission that could end or rather change, the war with humankind.

Two other titles set for release are Jeopardy! And Wheel of Fortune and are aimed at bringing a bit of a party atmosphere to the PlayStation Network and ultimately the console.
