The creative genius behind the BioShock games spills the beans on the two more-than-just-standard editions of the game highlighting a very special nine-and-a-half-inch statue.

It is now a norm in the industry to expect every triple-A title to retail with various special, collector’s and limited editions. The announcements about these editions also come at a time when the publishers and developers want some momentum going into the final few months before the game is released.

BioShock: Infinite is the third game in the critically acclaimed and widely received series that first took players to the underwater city of Rapture where they met the Little Sisters and Big Daddy for the first time.

Since then both characters have gone on to become gaming icons and BioShock 2 built on the success of the first game. Now however, it seems that Ken Levine wanted to take things a little higher with Infinite.

Just how high exactly? Well, think a floating city in the clouds high. When the game was first revealed at E3 last year it put many a jaw on the floor as fans could not wait to see more of the game.

A number of developer diaries were released since then showing off the various enemy types that players would face in the game before there was a blackout of information. The game was not shown at this year’s E3 or GamesCom conferences, with Levine insisting that they would only show the game when there was more to show than what everyone had already seen.

Two editions, apart from the standard edition, have been announced including the Premium Edition and the Ultimate Songbird Edition. Starting things off with the Premium Edition, which includes:

“A 3-inch baby version keychain of the sold-out Murder of Crows vigor bottle replica” as well as a “5 x 7 inch lithograph by Jorge Lacera”, “a 25 millimeter, resin-cast Handyman miniature from the upcoming BioShock Infinite board game by Plaid Hat Games”.

The Premium Edition also includes a mini art book, full of BioShock Infinite concept art and commentary, with a hand-distressed cover” and finally a number of in-game redeemable content such as “exclusive in-game gear, a digital soundtrack, and platform specific downloadable content.”

However, for those looking for the ultimate BioShock Infinite package then Mr. Levine is also offering the Ultimate Song Bird Edition, which not only has everything that the Premium edition does but also comes with a nine-and-a-half-inch Songbird statue.

All in all, the package sounds like one of the more high-end editions that only a few series offer and one can expect many BioShock fans to be spending a chunk of their life savings for that sweet looking Ultimate Songbird edition.
