Capcom’s Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the game’s producer, claims that the game will last gamers much longer than Resident Evil 5 did, with there being three separate storylines and all.
Resident Evil 6 has been termed as Capcom’s most ambitious project yet, as not only is the studio investing heavily in the title and expects it to emulate the likes of the Call of Duty but it is also the longest game in the series’ history when it comes to the length of the single-player campaign.
It is this single-player campaign and the amount of time it will take players to play through the three different storylines that the game’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, wised to highlight in a recent post on the official PlayStation Blog.
He said that the each of the three different storylines in the games made up “around 70% to 80% of the volume of the whole game in Resident Evil 5”.
Resident Evil 5 lasted a solid number of hours even if one was to take out the cut scenes and cinematics, so one can expect the next game to be quite an experience.
Hirabayashi continued, “So with three separate storylines, there’s plenty to play here.”
The three playable characters in the game are Chris Redfield, who starred in Resident Evil 5, Leon S. Kennedy, who was part of the PlayStation 2 classic, Resident Evil 4 and Jake Muller, who happens to be RE 5 antagonist, Albert Wesker’s son.
Each of the characters has a separate storyline of their own with Leon set to clear his name and bring Ada Wong to justice, while at the same time having the blood of the United States President on his hands.
Chris Redfield on the other hand wants nothing more than to exact his revenge on Ada who happened to have killed all but one member of his squad. This creates a cause for tension and friction between Leon and him.
The third character is Jake Muller, who is making his debut in the Resident Evil universe and apparently his blood holds the key to mankind’s survival and for that reason is targeted by Ada Wong. He also has his own unique gameplay style, which is focused on hand-to-hand combat.
All three characters are set to meet up in China although with completely different motives altogether and the game already has Resident Evil fans drooling at the prospect of seeing Chris and Leon on the same screen at once.
In fact, many RE fans were left in shock when they saw Leon and Chris pull guns on each other in a trailer of the game.
Resident Evil 6 was also one of the rare highlights of the Microsoft Press Conference, which showed off Leon S. Kennedy’s sequence as his attempts to get to a building did not work out as planned.
