United Kingdom: the latest weekly software sales charts are in and it makes for some good reading for Ubisoft while Danger Close will be horrified to see how far Medal of Honor: Warfighter has fallen.
There has been plenty of ‘moving and shaking’ in the charts as grenades and airstrikes fly past, assassin’s fight against the Templars, chokeslams are dished out and contentious refereeing decisions as we enter the holiday season is in full swing.
Not sure whether to kill the target or let him live is Dishonored which comes in at number ten. The game has been hailed by critics and fans as a potential Game of the Year and provided something fresh in a market filled with sequels and established series.
In ninth place is the soon to be Gangnam styling Just Dance 4. One can expect the rhythm game to remain in the charts throughout the holiday season despite its drop as it is one of the few games in on offer in the genre.
Coming in at number eight is Skylander Giants. A game that will appeal to both fans of the series and to those looking for something different from all the shooters that are set to release this year, Skylanders Giants will need to pull something special off if it wants to stay in the charts.
Forza Horizon is Microsoft’s solution to the void in the arcade racer genre. The game is set to compete with Criterion’s Need for Speed Most Wanted, however, one can expect the latter to enjoy the greater share of success, simply because of its edge of the seat mechanics.
Taking a nose dive is Medal of Honor: Warfighter. A majority of players did not enjoy the experience but there are those that appreciated the game for what it was. Sadly for Danger Close, the fans who enjoyed Warfighter were far fewer than those who did not and the first-person shooter finds itself in sixth place.
Moving into the top five now and Need for Speed: Most Wanted races in. the game can expect to spend at least one more week in the charts before it has a fight on its hands to stay in the top ten.
In fourth place is the latest iteration in the much loved series, Football Manager 2013. The game may not be for everyone but it seems everyone in the UK want to see if they have what it takes to be the next Sir Alex Ferguson.
WWE ’13 comes in at number with FIFA 13 ending the week as runner up for the second week running.
That means that the new number one is Assassin’s Creed 3, which breaks the record for becoming the fastest-selling Ubisoft title of all time, not bad for a series following an annual release model.
