Sony celebrate by revealing final boss and the opening cinematic of the eagerly anticipated and rather ambitious game.

‘Going Gold’ or having ‘gone Gold’ is a term used in the video game industry to describe the event that the development of a game has been completed and that the game is now being written onto discs and being readied for retail.

So when news broke that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, PlayStation’s answer to Nintendo’s Super Mario Smash Bros., has gone Gold, gamers can rest assured that there is very little that could possible delay the game or prevent it from meeting its scheduled release date.

Seth Killian, the Lead Game Designer at Sony Santa Monica Studio, revealed on the PlayStation Blog that their upcoming title, PlayStation All-Stars has gone Gold in the following words:

“I’m here today on behalf of SuperBot Entertainment, Bluepoint Games, and Santa Monica Studio to announce that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has gone gold on PS3 and PS Vita “

The game uses the cross-buy feature, which basically means that if one was to purchase the game for the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation Vita version would be made available for the player free of cost.

Killian went on to reveal a few extras as well on the occasion, he said, “In celebration of this milestone, we wanted to share something special as a small “thank you!” to all the amazing PlayStation fans who have helped us come so far.”

The ‘something special’ turned out to be the opening intro of the game, “Today we’re officially unveiling the opening cinematic sequence to the game.”

At the same time, the lead game designer also urged fans to wait till the end of the trailer if they wanted to find out who the ultimate boss would be in the story modes of the game.

He teased, “if you hang in until the end you’ll get a glimpse of the villainous mastermind that’s returned from the depths of PlayStation history to pull the strings in All-Stars.”

The game is Sony’s attempt at gaining a foot-hold in the family-casual gamer market and is the only triple-A title to be released by Sony this holiday season. Earlier on in the year the publisher highlighted how the genre and the family demographic had been neglected by the industry and how Sony viewed it as a potentially fundamental market in years to come.

The All-Stars beta has been up and running for some time now and has received generally positive feedback and reviews from whoever has played it. One can expect the game to be hot-seller during the Christmas period and Sony may just have hit the jack pot with the game.
