With the world still a couple of months away from the release of DMC: Devil May Cry, Capcom has already revealed its first downloadable content (DLC) involving Dante’s twin Vergil.

Named “Vergil’s Downfall,” the DLC will allow players to experience the back-story of Vergil, creating a stronger link between him and the main campaign in the game.

Other than a different storyline, the additional digital content will also feature new weapons, more combos and unique moves that Vergil will make use of to take down enemies, both from the original campaign as well as new enemies.

As per the reports, the “Vergil’s Downfall” DLC will follow shortly after the release of DMC: Devil May Cry and will be available for $9 on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.

People who pre-order the next title in the Devil May Cry franchise at GameStop or EB Games in America and Canada respectively will get their hands on the content for free.

The new chapter announced for the upcoming DMC: Devil May Cry in the form of DLC seems like an excellent move by the publisher as Dante’s twin brother has become really popular among the fans following his debut in the third Devil May Cry game.

Even though he was portrayed as a negative character, his personality and style won him a lot of fans, something that led Capcom to release a special edition of Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, which allowed players to take control of Vergil.

Devil May Cry 4 turned out to be a great experience, but the response of the fans made it quite obvious to Capcom that keeping Vergil out of it was not the greatest of decisions.

After the announcement of DMC: Devil May Cry at the Tokyo Game Show in 2010, the company did not wait too long to confirm that Vergil was also going to be featured in it, thus allowing many fans to breathe a sigh of relief and utter a cry of joy.

The upcoming Devil May Cry is being developed by Ninja Theory and is described as a reboot of the series. The setting has been changed significantly, along with the look of main protagonist. Instead of a cocky and adult Dante, the game will feature a younger version of him.

The game will also see Dante using more than just a gun and long sword to cut through the masses of enemies. The gameplay videos released on the internet show him using a scythe and axe to bring his foes to a painful and gruesome death.

DMC: Devil May Cry is slated for a January 15 release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America and Europe, while the PC version will follow at a later date.
