Polyphony Digital is continuing to support its PlayStation 3 exclusive racing simulator, Gran Turismo 5, by announcing yet another DLC Pack for the game.

Gran Turismo 5 has been released for well over a year. The game hit stores in November 2010 and has undergone a host of changes thanks to over 13 minor updates as well as one major update since then.

At the same time the developers of the game have also released a number of DLC packs including new cars, customization options and tracks to keep fans engaged in the game, and even though the game is only a few months away from its second anniversary, DLC still seems to be dropping in.

The latest pack is nothing fancy and is in line with what the studio has offered on previous occasions. Gamers will be able to download the gorgeous Toyota FR-S for free. The car is already in the game in two different models, however, the latest DLC introduces the one that is available in the United States.

The car comes fitted with a Porsche Boxer engine that can boast up to 200hp. It may not be a supercar able to compete with the likes of the Dodge Viper or Aston Martin DB9 or the Nissan GT-R, but seeing how it is for free, there should be little reason for complaint.

The car is a premium model, which means it will come with picture perfect visuals, a high polygon count as well as a perfectly recreated interior among other things.

The second part of the DLC is not free and comes with a new track for racers to drive around. The Twin Ring Motegi track will be made available for anyone who downloads the extra content.

As for those wondering how much the track will cost, the pricing point for the Twin Motegi track is €4.99, £3.99 and $5.00 in the United States.

Polyphony Digital and Sony are also running their GT Academy qualifiers at the moment as well. The GT Academy allows gamers the chance to drive actual Nissan GT-Rs and 350Zs among other cars, during the course of which they receive training.

The reality show then picks a winner who not only walks away with a brand new car but also becomes a member of the official Nissan racing team for one event.

Last year’s winner walked away with a sweet Mercedes and during the second to last round all the drivers were coached by F1 driver, David Coulthard.

Many are wondering when Gran Turismo 6 will be announced with speculation rife that the game will be released on Sony’s next generation console. At the same time rumours about the game making its way on to the PlayStation Vita have also grown over the past few weeks.
