The Alien films have a cult status and a loyal legion of fans so there is plenty of hype surrounding the upcoming Nintendo Wii U title and they are set for a bit of action.
The Nintendo Wii U underwhelmed when it was shown during the manufacturer’s Press Conference during E3 earlier on this year but bit by bit it is gaining some momentum as it nears it release date.
The reason for the renewed and slightly more enthusiastic interest in the first of the next generation console is due to the number of announcements surrounding the Wii U. The console has been the talking of the ‘next-gen’ town and a number of those announcements have raised consumer interest in the console.
Whether it is the latest bit of info on Ubisoft’s first-person shooter zombie apocalypse shooter, ZombiU, or rumours surrounding the console’s price, the Wii U is in the news more than any other console at the moment as it makes the headlines on a regular basis.
One story that is sure to turn a few heads, not just of those active in the gaming circle but also fans of the film, is the upcoming, long-awaited and long overdue Aliens: Colonial Marines.
The game has been in development for quite some time but it finally picked up some pace with plenty of information relating to the game having been released.
The game’s producer, Brian Burleson, believes that Alien fans are in for a treat when they finally get their hands on the game. At the same time he also believes that other gamers, who aren’t necessarily fans of the movie, will also find plenty to like in the upcoming game.
Burleson also pointed out that the game relied heavily on inspiration from the actual movies themselves and according to the producer “the films did a great job introducing how these things work, how they move around the world and act.” Before continuing, “There’s lots of variety in how they respond to the environment.”
At the same time, Colonial Marines will also get players into the action end of things much quicker than the movies did or as Burleson put it, the game will “get to the point much quicker than Cameron did. Even quicker than Ridley Scott did. We want to get people who never saw the films – there are those people, strangely – and familiarise them. The point of a first-person shooter is to shoot things!”
There is still no release date for the game but one can expect that to be announced when Nintendo announce when the console itself will be releasing. At the moment a number of sources claim that the Wii U will be out this holiday season, however, that is as much on the matter as everyone knows.
