The hardest game on consoles is set to make its way onto PCs in the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition on the 24th of August. Requirements and details incoming!
Demon’s Souls was an experience unlike any other when it was released as a PlayStation 3 exclusive all those years ago with review sites and critics praising the game for not holding the gamer’s hand like many other games in the market do.
After a few simple instructions on what the markings on the floor meant, which was how players could interact with each other with the game’s unique use of multiplayer, the players were left on their own to explore the world and die over and over and over and over again, before dying some more.
However, that was part of the whole Demon’s Souls experience as every death brought with it a lesson and the second time the player reached the same spot where he met his previous demise, he was ready for whatever ended his life in the game the last time around.
Dark Souls is the sequel to Demon’s Souls and builds on the original in every way. The game is no longer a single console exclusive as it was released on both PS3s and Xbox 360s, resulting in players from both consoles sending their controllers hurtling out the window before running out to get them again and keep playing.
It seems that the mouse and keyboard set up is about to get the same treatment as PC gamers are set to get their first taste of the Souls series as Dark Souls is set to release on PCs in August. To be more specific the game’s developers, From Software, have pegged down the 24th of August as the definitive release date for the game after it was initially delayed.
As for the minimum specs that PCs will need in order to run the game smoothly, From Software released those as well, although the studio admitted that some users may have issues with the game. The developer admitted that this was their first venture on PCs and that they did the best they could despite the problematic porting process.
In terms of Operating System anything Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 are all compatible. Gamers will need a 2.6 GHz Dual-Core processor as well as 2GB of memory if they’re using Windows Vista or Windows 7 but only 1GB on Windows XP.
Video Card requirements vary from a 512 MB RAM to a ATI Radeon 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or anything higher than the cards mentioned. Apart from that a Direct Sound Compatible sound card will do with a DirectX 9.0c for the graphics.
The Prepare to Die Edition of the game is also set to feature extra content.
