Nihilistic is set to mix things up on the perks front in Call of Duty’s debut on the PlayStation Vita as well as Survival mode, which sees players take on waves and waves of as yet, unannounced, enemy types.
Sony is looking to add a number of big names to the PlayStation Vita roster as it looks to get the PlayStation Vita into the mainstream. A number of third-parties are bringing their franchises to the console yet the most notable have to be Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified.
The latter has been the subject of much debate and discussion as it failed to wow the crowd at Gamescom. However, the president of Nihilistic Games, Robert Huebner, explained that the game has come along in leaps and bounds since then and will surprise many who see the improvements that have been made.
As for the in game perks, Huebner point out that “There are a total of 12 Perks” before continuing, “with a mix of returning and new abilities.”
Some of the returning perks mentioned were Hardline, Marksman, Sleight of Hand, Lightweight. At the same time a number of new perks were set to be introduced in the game as well; Surplus, which grants player extra grenades and ammo upon spawning, Hardwired, which makes the player immune to the Counter Spy Plane and toughness, which reduces the cross hair disturbance when one is shot in the game.
At the same time, it turned out that Robert Huebner also has a thing for Bouncing Betty, the classic anti-personnel mine that became popular in World at War.
He said, “The Bouncing Betty is one of the most popular around the office for multiplayer; there’s something very satisfying about getting a kill with one.”
Huebner also pointed out how the single player campaign revolved around completing missions with the object for the player being to get the perfect run.
“The goal is to give the player the experience of striving for the ‘perfect run’ through each mission.”
He also explained a survival mode that players could play as well, “These ‘Hostiles’ missions as we call them now are the classic ‘survive infinite waves’ sort of challenge. The player has to survive wave after wave of different enemy types.”
No specifications were given as to what those enemy types were as Treyarch’s series is known for its immensely popular Zombies modes. Whether the Hostiles missions have Zombies or enemy soldiers could prove to be a major point in terms of sales for the title.
However, judging by how the mode is titled ‘hostiles’ and not the traditional ‘zombies’ it seems that Declassified may not be getting the undead, which would be a major disappointment.
