Purist Thunderwrath the Omniknight can easily be considered as one of the most annoying heroes in Defense of the Ancients (Dota) 2 because of the immense amount of effort it requires to make him bleed to death.
It appears that while designing the hero, IceFrog had a picture of Superman in front of him. While Omniknight did not get the cool laser or freezing breath, he did get his share of abilities that make him a similar to a superhero.
Omniknight may look strikingly similar to Chuck Norris, but he is in fact a strength-support hero whose main objective is to keep his allies alive. He is an extremely annoying hero to play against as his defensive capabilities are really hard to counter.
His first spell Purification is a single-target heal for any ally including yourself. This will heal for 360 health points (HP) while also damaging enemy units in a 225 Area of Effect (AoE) for the same amount. The important thing to note here is that the 360 damage dealt is pure damage, meaning it will go through any physical or magical armour.
His second ability Repel is a single-target buff that will grant any ally completely magic immunity for a 12-second period. This is in essence a Black King Bar (BKB) except for the fact that it can be removed by any enemy with any purge ability.
The third ability Degen Aura is Omniknight’s passive that slows the enemy’s movement and attack speed by 28 percent. This is more of an offensive skill, but it is very handy for catching up to fleeing enemies.
Omniknight’s ultimate is named Guardian Angel and when cast it will envelope any ally within a 600 AoE with near physical invulnerability. This will add a 1000 armour to the allied units along with the +25 HP regeneration, all of this lasting a whooping 7 seconds. Sorry, but unfortunately there is no Aghanim’s Scepter for Omniknight. It sure would have been sweet to have this 7-second duration of the ultimate increased.
Despite being a strength hero, Omniknight should never be mistaken for someone who is capable of serving more than one role. His abilities make him an excellent support and a reliable source of heal and spell immunity. However, anyone who plans on allocating him additional roles creates a risk of distraction and thus may see a notable decline in the efficiency of his support role. When playing with Omniknight, it is of immense importance to stay alert and focused at all times as a timely heal or ultimate can ensure an ally’s and team’s success irrespective of the odds. He is indeed one of the best supports in the game, though how he performs in a battle highly depends on how quickly the player controlling him reacts to the dynamic situation in battles. That is where a player’s judgement plays a crucial role.
