Thrall the Disruptor is one of the latest additions to the hero roster in Valve’s action role-playing game (RPG) Defense of the Ancients (Dota) 2 that is currently in its beta-testing phase.

Disruptor is an intelligence hero that thrives with nukes and disables. His skills synergise directly with each other, but also offer enough versatility for him to be picked up in a variety of line-ups.

Thunder Strike is a single-target spell that when cast on an enemy will strike them three times with thunder over a four-second period. Each strike deals 125 percent damage and will also damage enemies that are in a 200 area of effect (AOE) of the inflicted target.

Glimpse is a single-target spell intended for enemy heroes only. This spell will force enemies back to the position they were in four seconds prior, something that can be quite hilarious if you send some back to base who just teleported in. One additional role of this role is that it can instantly kill illusions.

Kinetic Field is an AOE ability which, after a 1.2 second cast delay, will create a 300 AOE barrier that enemies cannot escape. The barrier lasts for a maximum of four seconds and while the enemies will not be able to get exit it, Disruptor and his allies can move in and out of it as they see fit.

Disruptor’s ultimate is called Static Storm, which has some obvious synergy with the rest of his spells. This is another AOE ability which will create a storm cloud in a 375 AOE that lasts for five seconds. This cloud will silence enemies and deal damage overtime. The damaging effects will start off weak, but will intensify over the full duration. At its highest level, the spell will deal a total of 656 magical damage.

Depending on the style of playing and situation in game, Disruptor can serve well in a number of roles. He is a great support hero due to spells like Glimpse and Kinetic Field at his disposal. Both these abilities can be used for assisting an allied hero to kill an enemy hero, or can also serve as a great way to protect a team-mate from dying.

Thunder Strike is a nightmare for anyone who is unfortunate to be in the same lane as Disruptor. With a pretty low cool-down, the spell can be used effectively to harass and ruin the enemy hero’s early game farming.

Static Storm is an excellent way to initiate battles. Casting Kinetic Field and immediately following it up with Static Storm can be a deadly combo which, if executed perfectly, make the battle pretty one sided owing to the five second silence and damage.

The Disruptor is indeed an exciting addition to Dota 2 and will definitely contribute significantly to the overall experience.
