CryTek will be releasing their third instalment in the visually breath taking series on the 19th and 22nd of February in the United States and Europe respectively.
Electronic Arts recently release Medal of Honor: Warfighter and the game has not done as well as the publisher would have hoped. However, Plan B seems to be in place as the publisher is bringing one of its more popular franchises back into the mix.
The Crysis games have always attracted the gaming community’s attention, especially since the first game became the benchmark of whether or not one owned a true gaming computer. The second instalment went multiplatform and with it a greater number of gamers found themselves immersed in the highly detailed and polished world of Crysis, which swapped its jungle setting to that of New York city.
The third game in the series is set to return to New York, although this time the urban jungle will be a more literal definition of the word with New York having been quarantined and the landscape being taken over by foliage and flora.
Players will return to the scene as Prophet, with his enhanced Nano-suit and take on the aliens and Cell as the world’s fate once again hangs in the balance.
After earlier indicating the game’s release window, EA has finally come out and given the world an exact release date for the game. As with most titles these days, the game will be released in North America and Europe on separate dates.
The North American version will hit stores on the 19th of February, while European gamers will have to wait an extra 72 hours, until the 22nd, before they can get their hands on the CryTek developed game.
There really has not been much in the way of content and information of the game apart from the E3 trailer and a few teasers, but the flow of information has picked up recently and there are even a number of pre-order incentives on offer for those who are looking to book their copy of the game early.
What is interesting to note is how the game is releasing in what is quickly becoming a jam packed first quarter of 2013. Not only does the game have to compete with the likes of Tomb Raider but it will also take on another EA title in the form of Dead Space 3.
There are also rumours that the next Grand Theft Auto could be released around the same time, though with each passing day that seems increasingly unlikely.
