Ubisoft spills the beans on what PC gamers need in order to run the game on minimum, recommended and high performance specs.
The game that caught everyone by surprise as to just how far along it had come from its more modest predecessor; Far Cry 3 now has everyone’s attention after an eye-popping demo and trailer at E3 this year.
Whether it was getting one’s head around the game’s ‘definition of insanity’ concept or the half-naked woman on the giant screen or even the fact that it boasts a four player co-op campaign, Far Cry 3 exceeded all expectations on every level. In the process it is now one of the more eagerly anticipated shooters set for release during the holiday season.
While console owners need only buy the copy of the game for their systems, PC users have a bit of pondering to do as they need to assess their systems in order to see what level they can run the game and in some cases, improvements and upgrades may be required.
Starting things off with the Minimum Specs and Ubisoft has been kind enough to list two examples of a graphics card and processor combination.
Gamers with a NVidia GTX8800 and an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 or an AMD Radeon HD2900 or AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ meet the minimum requirements. In essence, as long as they have a DirectX9c graphics card with 512MB Video RAM and 4GB memory are good to go.
However, for a better experience, Ubisoft recommends the following specifications:
“DirectX11 graphics card with 1024MB Video RAM Quad core CPU 4GB memory” with the following graphics card and processor combinations:
A Nvidia GTX480 with an Intel Core i3-530 or an AMD Radeon HD5770 with an AMD Phenom II X2 565 would do the trick.
However, there will always be those looking for the high end experience and for that Ubisoft also has the High Performance specs gamers can expect to be prepared to invest in if they are seriously about the game.
8GB Memory with the latest DirectX11 Graphics Card and the latest Quad-core CPU are a must, with examples such as the Nvidia GTX680 with an Intel Core i7-2600K or an AMD Radeon HD7970 with the AMD Bulldozer FX4150.
So based on your budget, current specs and a number of other variables PC gamers now have an idea of what they should have in their PCs in order to enjoy the game at the level they want.
Ubisoft also released a list of PC requirements for their upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed 3, which can be found by clicking here.
