2-million gamers have downloaded the FIFA 13 demo as EA Sports looks set for another record breaking year for the FIFA series.
Starting things off on the demo first and if it’s download figures are anything to go by then the game will go on to break the record for best-selling sports title, which was set by FIFA 12 last year. The demo was downloaded by a total of 1.99-million gamers across multiple platforms in a total of 73 countries.
The figures were released by EA Sports, three days after the release of the demo and no figures have been released since, but it is safe to say that the number of downloads has increased. The figure represents an increase of 29 percent as compared to the FIFA 12 demo which was released last year.
As for the pre-launch sales figures, it turns out that the game is nearing the 1-million mark as over 875,000 copies of FIFA 13 have already been booked by gamers eager to ensure they get their copy of the game on release day.
The pre-order figures also represent an increase from FIFA 12 as well with pre-orders growing by 62% in North America and 37% in Europe. Many wondered whether EA Sports could repeat the success they had with FIFA 12 but it seems that the early signs are promising.
The gameplay has been tweaked slightly and a number of features have been refined as well but they have had huge differences in the way the game will be played.
EA has also introduced a number of new features such as Match Day and built on the features already in FIFA 12 as well. The game can be considered an evolution rather than the revolution FIFA 12 was, but many agree that in this case that is not a bad thing.
FIFA 13 is set to release at the end of September, however, this time around it should face some competition from Pro Evolution Soccer 2013, which looks like Konami is back in the game. Although it will be interesting to see whether or not it can take back the gamers it lost to FIFA over the past few years.
All in all it looks like a good time to be both a football fan and a gamer as EA Sports and Konami are set to breathe fresh life into the age old rivalry to see who can deliver the best football simulation experience.
But what about the readers; which game do you think will come out on top? Will it be the year of PES 2013’s comeback or is FIFA 13 too strong to be challenged just yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
