A recent poll held by CVG has revealed the top five titles that gamers are looking forward to the most and it includes the likes of Metal Gear Solid, Assassin’s Creed 3, BioShock Infinite and The Last of Us.
It may not have been the comprehensive of polls or the most elaborate, but it does throw up a number of interesting results nonetheless. However, before diving into the results it is important to understand the criteria and voting process that were used for the poll.
Twenty titles were put up for voting, with players awarding each game a score between 1-10 depending on how excited, or how much they were looking forward to the game. The list included a number of games which have caught the gaming public’s eye and are set for release soon.
With that out of the way it is time to dive into the results and see which games made it into the top five.
Starting things off with BioShock Infinite and the game, which has been hit by delays, still seems to garner considerable interest from the gaming public despite not having been shown at either E3 or GamesCom. Nonetheless, the ambitious title is sure to attract crowds whenever it chooses to make another appearance.
In fourth place is the next instalment of the Assassin’s Creed series with Assassin’s Creed 3. The game sees a change of protagonist and setting as well as time period as Ezio is replaced by Connor and Italy is replaced with America and the war for independence.
In third place is Naughty Dog’s upcoming PlayStation exclusive, The Last of Us. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic United States where the only thing more dangerous than the infected are the other survivors. The game wowed audiences whenever it was shown and the gameplay, although similar to that of Uncharted, has a much darker and grittier tone.
Coming in second was Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. The game was shown off during the 25th anniversary celebration of the Metal Gear Solid series and blew everyone away as it demonstrated the capabilities of the Fox Engine.
However, no game came close to Grand Theft Auto V, which stole the show, in much the same way players steal cars in the game. There has not been much shown of the game, apart from one trailer and a handful of screenshots, however, that has not stopped the gaming public from drooling over it.
But what about the readers; do those games top your most anticipated lists or are you looking forward to another title, say FIFA 13, Dead Space 3 or Resident Evil 6? Let us know your top five in the comments section below.
