More than 4-million players have played the game online, while over a million players finished the game’s campaign in the first five days and over 43-million achievements have been unlocked.
Halo 4’s reign as the biggest entertainment launch of 2012 may have been short lived, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 wiped the floor with it, but there is still plenty for Microsoft and 343 Industries to be proud about, as a number of stats released by the developer show.
Starting things off with what is perhaps the game’s most impressive statistic as “over four million people played Halo 4 on Xbox LIVE in the first five days”, which is a record for the series as the game beat out the likes of Halo 3 and Halo: Reach.
At the same time “13.5 million hours were spend playing Campaign in the first five days.” During that time, “1,116,882 people complete the Campaign” out of which “6% of total players completed the Campaign on Ledgendary.”
There’s more though as over 4.5-billion kills were earned during the same time period in the game’s online multiplayer mode while over and 2.6-billion kills were made in the Campaign.
There were a number of other stats as well which can be found on the Halo waypoint website, however, these were the more notable.
Halo 4 has been hailed as a fitting entry to the iconic series and the return of Master Chief has not disappointed fans or critics either. Many were apprehensive of the fact that Microsoft had brought in another studio to carry on the Halo series after Bungie’s departure.
Bungie had created the series from scrap including three core entries into the series and throwing in a prequel and an expansion as well. Each of the games was a success in its own right and the core entries and Halo: Reach, the prequel, dominated the sales charts during their respective releases.
343 Industries revealed before the game’s launch that they already had the overall story arc sorted out and one could expect big things in the series. Microsoft signed the developer on for three Halo games, taking the series up to Halo 6.
However, the publisher also secured online domains up until Halo 9. Whether that was just a precaution or an indication of any future plans remains to be seen.
The latest game brought in a new kind of enemy race for Master Chief to battle after he put the Covenant to rest in the previous trilogy. Whether or not they go on to become as iconic as their predecessors remains to be seen.
