A visit to the jobs sections on 2K Czech reveals that the Mafia studio has plenty of job openings, seeking out new and bold talent for its office its Prague and Brno offices in Czech Republic.
There has not been any announcement regarding the studio working on a new game in recent past, which has triggered rumours of the developer working on a new top-secret AAA game.
The job listings at 2K Czech’s official website include an opening for a VFX Artist, Lead Character Artist, Online Programmer, Senior Animator, Senior Environment Artist, Senior Character Artist, Senior Programmer, Senior Rendering Engineer, Game Designer, Tool Programmer, Engine Programmer, Lead Mission Designer, Systems Designer, Outsourcing Manager and Senior Producer.
With the studio looking to bring more than a dozen of new talent, one if forced to make an assumption that it is about to start work on some new project.
It is also highly probable that the next project may be developed keeping the next-generation consoles in mind.
Looking for a handful of artists, programmers and engineers that are passionate about gaming seem to indicate that the studio has finally been bitten by the next-generation bug, which already has majority of the gaming industry all excited brought them to their toes.
With the high-end technology thought to be just around the corner, both the publishers as well as the developers are preparing themselves to pounce on to it the moment it becomes available to them and waste absolutely no time in uncovering its potential.
2K Czech has made a solid impact on the current-generation consoles as well as PC with the sequel to Mafia released in 2010, which was met with critical success, before following it up with Top Spin 4, a tennis experience offered to the fans of the sport in early 2011, though it still remains one of the most popular title in the genre to date.
The studio was rumoured to be working on the third title in the Mafia franchise, which was going to be acting as a launch title for the high-end Sony and Microsoft consoles, but no confirmation has been given as yet.
There was also a rumour regarding the developer helping Rockstar North with the development of Grand Theft Auto V, but the latter denied these rumours while making it quite clear that no such collaboration was going on behind the scene.
While the reason for 2K Czech suddenly wanting to bring so many people onboard all of a sudden is being attributed to the next-generation consoles seemingly just around the corner, one cannot also ignore the possibility of the studio simply looking to fill in the vacancies that were created after the departure of 40 developers last year.
