The publisher claims that it has not invested as heavily in the Wii U as many think and that the developer’s focus is more on innovation when it comes to titles such as ZombiU and Rayman Legends.

The Nintendo Wii U was shown off in some detail at this year’s Nintendo Press Conference at E3 and one thing everyone took away was the fact that Ubisoft seemed to be the most enthusiastic in terms of supporting the console out of all the publishers.

Ubisoft announced a number of titles for the console with a mixture of both original IPs as well as ports of some of their most well-known series as well.

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, went on record stating that the publisher had a large number of games lined up for the release of the Wii U and pointed out that the ports of some their more popular series did not cost as much as everyone had predicted.

He said, “Out of seven games we are planning to launch five games are ports, so those are games for which there is a quite small reinvestment to do.”

The reinvestment is said to be around the one million euros mark, which is not that significant an amount for Ubisoft according to the CEO.

However, he did point out that the two original titles for the Wii U did cost a lot more than the ports but even then they did not cost as much as some of their other titles did. He explained, “The two games that are original are ZombiU and Rayman Legends, so those ones of course are more expensive but we are not talking about games today, like we were spending on Ghost Recon or Assassin’s Creed. So they are much smaller of cost.”

Guillemot also highlighted the developer’s ethos when approaching the Wii U and explained it was more about innovation, in other words experimentation, than investing huge amounts of money. He said, “Because as we’ve always said when there is such an innovation the need is not to have big production value but to concentrate on the innovation.”

There were few highlights to pick out for the Nintendo Wii U Press Conference, however, ZombiU was certainly one of them as the game is set to put players in a post-apocalyptic world swarming with zombies in a first-person shooter title.

The game seemed to be every gamer who fantasizes of the zombie apocalypse’s dream and will be one of the main attractions for core gamers to buy the console when it is released.

Nintendo also teased that consumers will be surprised when they hear the pricing point of the Wii U, although there is still time for that announcement yet.
