Online petition to bring Dark Souls II to Wii U kicks-off. Over 3,000 signatories to the petition thus far.
An online petition has been launched by the gamers at Change.org, asking for the recently announced sequel to the critically and commercially acclaimed action role-playing open world video game Dark Souls to be brought on Nintendo’s first-ever HD console as well.
From Software, which had developed and published the original Dark Souls in Japan, had revealed Dark Souls II during the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards show in Culver City, California, this past Friday.
At the press conference that followed, the company revealed that the game was in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, thus making it quite evident that there were no plans to bring out an iteration of the game for the Wii U.
Fans of the franchise owning a Wii U were not too happy about From Software ignoring Nintendo’s next-generation console and therefore started a campaign to exert some pressure on the publisher to consider a Wii U version of Dark Souls II.
The creator of the online petition asking for Dark Souls II to be brought on Nintendo’s HD console has cited a couple of reasons that support the cause.
According to him, the upcoming Dark Souls sequel can greatly benefit from the Wii U, particularly its unique tablet-inspired controller GamePad.
The creator contends that the dual-screen gaming is perfect for Dark Souls II, as the players will be able to use the secondary screen on the GamePad to conveniently manage their inventory without having their vision obscured on the TV screen while searching for items.
ZombiU, Ubisoft’s survival horror first-person shooter, has already shown how GamePad can be used effectively to manage inventory, something that From Software are sure to recall while going through the case presented by the petition’s creator.
To further strengthen the case for bringing Dark Souls II to Wii U, the creator of the online petition said that the new Nintendo console is relatively more affordable than the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which will benefit the multiplayer mode of the game.
The online access for the Wii U is so far, though Nintendo charges a one-time fee of $0.50 to register an account for minors, a measure that is in place to ensure that minors do not step into the online space without the consent of their parents or guardians.
While the online petition asking for Dark Souls II to be brought on Wii U comes off as a desperate attempt by the gamers to convince From Software, there is a possibility of it bringing the desired results.
From Software has not commented on the petition yet.
