Capcom has confirmed that the ‘Siege mode’ for Resident Evil 6 will not be part of the upcoming downloadable content (DLC) for Xbox 360 and will instead be releasing on a later date.
The company had announced in September this year that the first expansion pack for its latest survival horror third-person shooter will include Siege mode.
However, there was no mention of the aforementioned mode during Capcom’s announcement of the DLC that is scheduled to arrive later this month for the Xbox 360 version of Resident Evil 6.
The mode that was originally intended to be part of the first content pack got replaced with a previously announced Onslaught mode, which will have two players going head-to-head against each other while holding their own against hordes of enemies and chaining combos to send more zombies to the opponent’s screen, thus reducing their chances of survival.
Capcom has confirmed that while Siege mode will not be part of the December 18 DLC, it is in the pipeline and will arrive on a future date.
If the company has not made any significant changes to the mode and plans on keeping it in its original form, it will feature one side doing whatever they can to protect a non-player character (NPC) from the enemies who are determined to take him out.
According to the announcement made by Capcom recently, the upcoming DLC will introduce three new modes to the game, which include Predator, Survival and Onslaught.
The three modes can either be purchased separately via Xbox Live for 320 Microsoft Points ($4) each, or a bundle comprising of all three modes can be purchased for 720 Microsoft Points ($9).
The Predator mode will support from two-to-six players, with one of the player taking on the role of Ustanak, the fearsome Bio Organic Weapon (B.O.W.) who will be familiar to players who have gone through Jake Muller’s campaign. The human players will be tasked with either surviving the threat chasing them until the session ends, or taking it down to claim victory.
The other mode that Resident Evil 6 players will be able to enjoy once the DLC arrives is the Survival mode. It solo or versus mode will also have support for up to six players, pitting them against each other and zombies. Once a player dies at the hands of the zombie, he will be transformed into an un-dead as well. However, there is a slight twist. If the zombie player manages to take down a human player, he will regain his human form. The last man or team standing will win.
While Capcom has only announced the DLC for the Xbox version of Resident Evil 6 yet, it is expected to hit PlayStation Network (PSN) in the not-so-distant future as well.
