It seems Sony subscription based premium service may just be offering Vita owners some free goodies if the results of an on-going survey are to be believed.
The PlayStation Vita is still a relatively new piece of technology and Sony still seems to be gauging the market and the tastes and preferences of their specific audience.
On the other hand, the premium subscription service, PlayStation Plus, has been a massive hit as subscribers are thoroughly enjoying the free games, free exclusive content and the discounts on offer.
Sony’s plans to bring the service to the PlayStation Vita have been widely publicized and the publisher seems to want to get an idea of what the handheld console users will want if they do upgrade.
A survey on the official PlayStation Blog, had three options to the question: “What type of benefits would you place as important for PS Plus for PS Vita?”
The three options were, “Free Games playable only on PS Vita”, “Free Games compatible with both PS Vita and PSP” and “Discounts on PS Vita Content”.
At the time we submitted our choice, the first option was a clear favourite with over 2,750 votes being cast. The number represented an overwhelming 65% of the total votes, with the second option sharing 24% of the spoils and the third option only managing 534 votes to give it 11% of the share.
With just under 4,996 votes cast and the number set to rise as the day wears on, it is a decent sample size to base a strategy around, although Sony will want to wait until that figure reaches one they feel comfortable with, instead of what everyone else thinks.
That being said, it seems Sony are really pushing PlayStation Plus for the Vita and the service is half as good as it is on the PlayStation 3, then Sony may have hit the jackpot.
However, time has not stood still at Sony and while the company gears up to bring the best of the service to the Vita, it is also working on the PlayStation 3 fan base as well. The recent Plus update comes with three announcements.
The first being that Derrick the Death Fin is now 30% less expensive for Plus Subscribers and now costs $5.59 (originally $7.99).
The second offer is that The Revenge of Shinobi gets a massive 80% discount with the price now at 100-cents or $1.
The biggest announcement however, was the fact that King of Fighters XIII is now available as a free download for subscribers and is sure to be downloaded by a number of subscribers over the course of the offer being available.
So which game will you be downloading? All three or just the free one likes us? Let us know in the comments section below.
