The Amazing Spider-Man Premiere - London

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes and The Amazing Spider-Man both debuted in the United Kingdom last week and began an epic battle for the top spot in the video game sales chart, but who came out on top?

It has been another seven days since the last time wishfree.com took a look at the charts and it is time now to once again delve into the sales figures to see which game reigned supreme for the past week.

Starting off at number 10 and Solid Snake sneaks his way into the top end of the charts as the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection makes its debut in the United Kingdom. The HD Collection contains both Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 as well as two mini-games in addition to over a 100 Virtual Reality training missions.

Battlefield 3 managed to hold on a place in the top as its closest rival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is nowhere to be seen, as it ended the week in ninth place. One could see it climb even higher depending on how gamers take to the upcoming DLC packs for the game.

Rockstar’s slick and violent third-person shooter, Max Payne 3, has to settle for eighth place in the charts. The game has been praised for both its single-player campaign and its multiplayer component as well.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim finds itself in seventh place as the Game of the Year for many review sites last year continues to provide new experiences for gamers in the world of Skyrim. One has to wonder how long the game will continue to sell before it, like all things in the world, takes an arrow to the knee.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier finds itself outside the top five for the first time as the third-person tactical shooter settles in for sixth place. One can expect the sales to continue to decline until the DLC is released.

FIFA 12 kicks off the top five as the best-selling sports title of all time continues to sell. One can expect the game to continue to stay in the charts as the football season has ended and gamers will be wanting to get their daily dose of footy action.

The official game for Olympics, London 2012: The Official Video Game, is another debutant in the charts and sells well enough to settle in fourth place, while another debutant, Spec Ops: The Line, comes in at number three.

Finishing in second place is The Amazing Spider-Man video game tie-in. The hype surrounding the Hollywood movie may be at fever pitch, however it was not enough to take the game to top spot.

Instead, it seems that gamers prefer to get their share of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, which takes the number one spot for its own.
