Naughty Dog also announce Pre-order bonuses for the game as well as dropping a multiplayer bombshell in there as well.
The studio that brought the world the critically acclaimed Uncharted series, Naughty Dog, is currently working on its latest project. The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic survival-adventure game set in a world where the majority of the human population has been infected with a fungus, turning them into blood-thirsty savages.
Joel and Ellie are the two characters that the game revolves around as the former is a man with a mysterious past who takes Ellie under his wing as he looks for redemption. Not much has been given away from the story point of view, which makes sense seeing how the game is a story driven title, much like Uncharted.
However, Sony seem to have sense the hype for the game and have announced two separate pre-order incentives for the game. The first set of incentives will be available through nearly every retailer.
The Sights and Sounds Pack comes with three things. Firstly, the official soundtrack of The Last of Us will come bundled with the game; secondly, two avatars will be made available for users for the PlayStation Network Profile, the two avatars are Winter Joel and Winter Ellie, and lastly, a dynamic theme will also be unlocked.
GameStop and Sony have struck a partnership over the game and the US retailer will be offering more than just Sights and Sounds. Apart from the aforementioned standard bonus content, those who pre-order their game from GameStop will also receive in-game goodies as well.
Players will receive a head start over their fellow players with bonus experience points for the multiplayer component of the game. Yes, there is a multiplayer side to The Last of Us as well. One would have thought it would have come as a more major and public announcement instead of a mention in the pre-order incentives.
At the same time, there will also be a melee attack booster, again for the multiplayer as well as “some extra starting in-game cash.” Two other bonuses include “special customizable character items for multiplayer” and lastly, “two special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which will be unlocked after you complete the single player campaign.”
So there you have it, the pre-order announcement had a nice little surprise thrown in there and answered a question everyone was asking. However, no details of the multiplayer mode were announced and Naughty Dog has confirmed that details will be making their way to the public soon.
In the meantime though, all one can do is sit and stare at the considerably impressive box art for the game and maybe even head down to a retailer and pre-order a copy of the game.
