Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls was the surprise that everyone was expecting and it managed to create a sense of excitement for the game, however, there was a trailer that gave PC first-person shooter fans a reason to get excited.

10. Medal of Honor: Warfighter

EA seems to follow a set format every E3; they bring out a set number of developers each showing off a single game and with the likes of Danger Close, Visceral Games and DICE all in attendance, among others, it was no surprise that some of the biggest names in gaming were thrown around.

One of those names was the second instalment in the reboot of the classic Medal of Honor series, Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Many will remember the series for titles such as Frontline on the PlayStation 2 and Allied Assault on PCs, two classics both of which have a place in gaming’s Hall of Fame.

The first reboot in the series was released two years ago in 2010, as Danger Close and DICE collaborated to bring Medal of Honor out of World War 2 and into the modern day and age, or the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan to be more precise.

When the trailer for Warfighter started off it looked pretty similar to Battlefield 3 but a few seconds in, one could get the Medal of Honor vibe. Gunshots, explosions and vehicles were all present in the action-packed trailer and if anything it seems as if EA is putting its considerable weight behind the title.

The version shown was the one PC gamers would be getting and it really demonstrated how the age of the current generation of consoles is at its end. The PC made full use of the FrostBite engine as explosions, lighting and visuals looked fantastic. One could even liken it to Battlefield 3 on steroids, but that would probably start a flame war.

A multiplayer trailer was also shown off, showcasing the player(s) versus player(s) mode of the game, however, it was the single-player trailer that really impressed.

It seems as if EA will be following in Activision’s footsteps and alternating between two of its franchises. Much like Activision, which publishes Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare series and Treyarch’s Black Ops titles, EA will be doing the same and alternating between Battlefield and Medal of Honor.

If the final game is as exciting as its E3 trailer then EA may very well have another success on their hands and if it isn’t, well, it will be a huge let down for fans of the series who still remember the series’ glory days of yesteryear.
